Solution to: Cut the Cake

First, make two vertical cuts that, together, form the shape of a "+". Then make a third cut horizontally through the middle of the cake:

The drawback of this solution is that it contains only four slices of whipped cream, while the other four slices consist only of cake base.

If the goal is for each piece to contain both whipped cream and cake base, then there is an alternative solution. In that case, the pieces must be moved after the first two cuts, so that in the end you have eight pieces of equal size and shape. To do this, first cut the cake twice, as in the previous solution, to form a "+". Then place the four quarter pieces in a row and make the third straight cut in the following way:

Without the requirement that each cut must be straight, other solutions are conceivable in which each piece contains both whipped cream and cake base:
